REVIEW: THE WAYWAREDE

The Waywarede, directed and written by Tommy Walton is an excellent piece of dark supernatural tale that excels in suspense and character driven narrative that brings nuance and depth to each of its characters and that is down to the brilliant and tight script that leaves audiences hooked at every twist and turn. Walton expertly crafts this unique and fascinating world with it's own mythology that could be equally delved into. he has such a vision for the piece and that is visually seen within the film.
Elijah James leads an exceptional cast full of talent and that adds an even more depth as they ground the fantasy elements into reality with each performance just as powerful as the next which really brings this piece to life. you really feel that the stakes are heightened by the acting choices made and that justr adds an extra enjoyment to the film and that is a testament to the actors.
Wjat is evident with this film is that the director of photography and composer each help bring this piece to life in that this film really uses the forest that the film is set in. trhe opening panning from the ground shot of the forest already creates this eerieness that is laying the groundwork for the story about to unfold and that can be said for the score of the film. the ominous and foreboding tones escalate the dramatic nature of the pieceand heighten the story by giving this impression to audiences. It's a testameny=t to both the talents of Maaz Ali and Lucy Cowling.
Overall, The Waywarede is a fantastic short film that has room to expand into something more as it leaves audiences most certainly wanting to learn more from the vast world that the short has crafted and is an utter testament to everyone that worked on the film. i would highly reccomend that you go and watch it.
