Aspiring Director &Writer for Stage & Screen

Hello! My name is Jonathan McIntyre and I am an aspiring writer and director for stage and screen. I've always been fascinated with telling unique and dynamic stories that feature characters that are flawed and relatable to audiences but also characters that they can come to love and that is what excites me as a creative writer in telling unique and dynamic stories for audiences to engage with. Growing up in the North East Of England

A friendly and enthusiastic individual who is an inspiring writer across stage and screen with the intent of crafting innovative and captivating stories that audiences can invest and find entertainment from but also feel educated. Telling unique and engaging stories interests me as a writer in crafting character driven stories that are relatable but also thought provoking that create strong and divisive reactions interests me deeply as a writer.

Despite being born with a rare genetic condition that affects my vision, this has never stopped me in striving to create stories that are unique and innovative, it has only made me more determined to create stories that intrigue and shine a light on those that aren’t usually represented which gives my pieces a unique outlook on life that feeds into my writing style in telling stories that feel fresh and innovative to audiences. This determination has only made me more resilient in the ways in which I approach writing.

I enjoy writing for a wide array of forms of media whether it be for film, TV, theatre, or print, telling stories that audiences can relate to and feel that they can see themselves in work intrigues me as a writer which is why I find character driven stories interesting in that it is the choices they make that drive a story which fascinates me in understanding why those choices have made crafting a complex story.

From an early age, I’ve also been intrigued by media and fascinated with how they would tell complex and intricate stories onscreen that audiences could invest within especially on TV, with my style of writing being very much like that in wanting to follow characters as they develop over time interests me greatly in following their growth and seeing how audiences engage with the media crafted.

Starting with developed characters allows me to think about how the rest of the world that these characters breathe within which also interests me greatly in developing the costume that the characters wear and how that helps in crafting a character as well as the locations that they interact in and what that then tells an audience about the characters making them feel more real.

I’m also fascinated with how sound can tell a narrative and craft a story through the soundscape. That by the different motifs and scores can denote what narrative is being told and that interests me greatly in that their are other forms of the production that tell the narrative and having this in mind helps in crafting a unique story onscreen.

Creating stories for theatre also allows for the crafting of sound and lighting to play a part in the narrative as they are creating the scene that the action is taking place and that interests me as a writer in considering these factors in how they can say what audiences need to take way without telling them and that process interests me greatly as a creative In effectively doing so that interests audiences,
